Sustainability
All of the specimens used in my jewelry have been harvested within the same strict code of ethics practiced generally by research and scientific institutions.
- Except in very few cases, none of the host plants used for jewelry specimens have been killed. I intentionally spread out my harvesting so as to not collect overmuch from any one plant or even any one area.
- In the case of native plants, I will never harvest a threatened or endangered species, and will only harvest from the native specimen if I know them to be common in the area, and at least twenty more individual plants are visible in the area.
- All insects are carefully and gently removed from plants back onto the same species as the one picked up, and I will never knowingly harvest a plant that is host to any insect or arachnid.
- All of my wild specimens come from either public town-owned land or private land from which I have the explicit permission of the property owner.
- All of my own garden plants have been grown organically, most from seed.
